Are you new to therapy? Looking to experience a different modality and are curious about Gestalt? Gestalt therapy is an approach to personal transformation that invites a fuller presence and awareness of the here and now, thus allowing you the possibility of more excitement, energy and courage to live your life directly.
People come to Gestalt therapy seeking support in times of challenge and transition, a desire to explore unfinished business, find creative solutions in relationships, and to decrease levels of fear and anxiety.

About our Therapists:
Supervised student therapists in Years Four and Five of Five Year Training Program in Gestalt Psychotherapy offer a high level of empathic and interactive therapy at an affordable price of $45.00 a session. Confidentiality is assured. Please review our limits of confidentiality agreement. Student therapists in the clinic receive a minimum of 3 ½ years of training, and some have many more years of diverse personal and professional experience. They will work with you in the present moment in a warm, honest and direct manner. All of the therapists have a supervisor and all of their client cases are reviewed confidentially. Neither the Student Clinic nor the Gestalt Institute of Toronto has access to your files or in any way manages or supervises the therapist’s practice.

Our services are currently available only online due to the pandemic, and prior to this were available in-person across the GTA and other locations including Thornhill, Mississauga, Burlington and Guelph. Student therapists at the Gestalt Student Clinic are available for sessions during the day, evenings and weekends. Some of our student therapists can provide therapy in languages other than English, so please inquire.

Duration and Frequency of therapy sessions:
Therapy sessions, whether online or in person, are 50 minutes in length. The frequency of your sessions may vary depending on different factors, so please discuss these with your therapist. Some clients prefer weekly sessions particularly while getting to know one another, and others may prefer bi-weekly, monthly or as needed. The reduced rate of $40.00 per session is upheld for up to 1 year only, at which point the therapist-in- training may increase the rate. Some clients may decide at this point to contact the clinic to inquire about being matched with a new student therapist at the reduced rate. Please speak with your therapist about this.

What is required for participation in online therapy?
You will require access to a a safe and private space, a device (PC, laptop, handheld/smartphone etc..) with audio and video capabilities and access to good quality, high-speed internet connection. Online appointments will be set up with you by email, and a direct link for the session is generally sent to you before your session.

If you are interested in working with a student therapist, please fill out the information form below and one of our intake workers will contact you to set up a telephone screening interview within 14 days. Please provide your availability for this phone call on the information form. The call will take approximately 30 minutes andyou will need to be in a private space so that you can answer some personal questions that help us to determine if one of our student therapists are best suited to work with you. You will be asked to provide consent to this confidential screening interview, and the limits of confidentiality will apply and be reviewed with you at this time (see above document). We will do our best to match you with a student therapist, and also cannot guarantee that someone suited to your needs and schedule will be available. We will suggest other potential resources for you to explore if this is the case. The phone interview will include information about your personal history as it relates to your request for therapy. The information from this interview is transferred to the student therapist as part of your file, and the student clinic does not keep this record after 3 months.

A discussion about Consent to Treatment and the Limits of Confidentiality will be included in the intake as well as the first therapy session with a student therapis

My approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of life’s challenges. With a background in Psychology (B.A., York University), Social Service Work (Diploma, Seneca College), and ongoing training as a Gestalt Student Therapist.

Gestalt Therapy is at the heart of my practice because it provides a powerful way to explore and resolve the root causes of life’s struggles. My work is shaped by my experiences growing up in a society affected by political tension, the aftermath of war, and marked by instability and loss. Coming from a family impacted by trauma and mental health challenges, I drew strength from the healing traditions of folklore and the support of my community. Seven years ago, I immigrated to Canada, where I encountered the profound challenges and personal growth of rebuilding my life in a new culture. Now a mother, I combine my personal journey with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology to help others navigate their own healing paths.

Years of working as a registered massage therapist has attuned me to the importance of deep listening. This helps me to understand a person’s struggles and strengths. I am a single parent. I have dealt with mother daughter issues as a mother and as a daughter. I have evolved through several diverse career paths. Each passage has deepened and broadened my perspective. I have felt the loneliness that comes with a lack of partner intimacy and the power dynamics of being an underdog. I understand the struggles, hard decisions and grief when caregiving for an aging parent. I have struggled to find my agency and a path forward for change. I hope to be a compassionate support for others who are on this journey.
